The Venice Biennale is arguably the most important visual art event in the world. Established in 1895, last year it attracted over 500,000 visitors. It is unrivaled in terms of providing students a living portrait of the global art world. The exhibition is huge, including pavilions for each represented country, dozens of ancillary exhibitions, as well as the curated exhibition. Students in the Intensive will be given the opportunity to meet and interact with artists and curators from around the world, both informally and through a series of lectures and presentations.
Students arrange and pay for their own round-trip transatlantic flight to Venice. Transportation for program-related field trips are arranged by SU Abroad and are included in the program fee. You'll be housed in shared rooms in hotels/hostels or apartments rented by Syracuse University for the duration of the program. Each evening there is a group dinner prepared by Emily and Cooper. Additional information will be provided to confirmed applicants.
: Do not purchase your airline ticket before receiving written notification from us that you can book your flight. You will have to present this notification if we cancel the program at a later date, and you want to be reimbursed for the cost of the ticket.
*Travel and living arrangements are subject to change. SU Abroad will provide detailed information prior to the program start date.
