It gained University status in 1962 and now serves 15 English-speaking Caribbean countries with four Campuses; these are Mona in Jamaica, Open Campus, St. Augustine in Trinidad and Cave Hill in Barbados. It is also the region’s premier educational institution offering a wide range of programs of study. UWI programs of study have a strong emphasis on the Caribbean, making it the ideal educational institution for students with an interest in Caribbean history and development.
